What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Ola First Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is but one God, the Maker, Preserver and Ruler of all things, having in and of Himself, all perfections, and being infinite in them all; and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; 1 Timothy 1:17)

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ stands as the central figure of our faith—a manifestation of God's love and the ultimate expression of divine redemption. We believe in Jesus as the Son of God, fully God and fully human, whose earthly life, death on the cross, and triumphant resurrection provide the atonement for humanity's sins. Through His teachings, miracles, and sacrificial love, Jesus serves as the perfect example of righteousness and the embodiment of God's grace. (Matthew 3:17; 1 Corinthians 15:3-7; 1 Timothy 2:5; Romans 5:6-11)

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Holy Spirit who eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son and is sent by the Father and Son to give new life. The Holy Spirit unites believers to Jesus Christ in faith, brings about the new birth and dwells within the believer (Eph. 1:13-14, John 15:26-27).

The Fall

Adam and Eve, were created with innocence, but  rebelled against God and brought sin into the world. As a result, all people are born as sinners, inheriting the condemnation of Adam and Eve. (Gen 3:6-7, Isaiah 59:2)

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone. (Rom. 1:16-17, John 3:16-21, Rom. 6:23, 10:9-10, 1 John 4:10)

The Church

The Church is to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 5:16, 16:19, 28:18-20, John 13:34-25, 17:20-24, Acts 2:42-27, 8:4, Hebrews 10:19-25, 13:7, 13:17)
